Imams and Khateebs!: Join the Khutbah on Disability Campaign in Recognition of International Day of Persons with Disabilities
Written by Deen Support ServicesMark your calendars because December 3rd is International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) and DEEN Support Services will be celebrating with our Disability Khutbah Campaign.
IDPD is a United Nation’s recognized celebratory day, “a day for all”. IDPD is a day when we can acknowledge all individuals with disabilities and highlight their impact in our communities.
On the Friday before IDPD, November 29th 2024, let’s come together to make our communities more inclusive and accepting.
Together, we’ll amplify this year's theme: War and Disability in Islam, fostering awareness, compassion, and inclusion for Muslims with disabilities.
With the support of leading Canadian organizations representing the majority of masjids across Canada, this campaign is a unified effort to make our communities more inclusive and compassionate.
Together, we can make a lasting impact.
Why is This Important?
Spread Awareness: Despite the prevalence of disabilities, there’s a lack of awareness and understanding within our communities. This campaign aims to change that.
Challenge Stigma: Disabilities often come with social stigmas that can be isolating. Through this campaign, we aim to challenge those misconceptions and attitudes.
Foster Inclusivity: It’s time to make our masjids and communities more inclusive. This campaign provides the resources and the platform to do just that.
Community Building: The Khutbah Campaign unites different sections of our community, creating a more harmonious and welcoming environment for all.
