Check out Expressions of Muslim Women's Latest Show "All-Stars" on November 16 in Ottawa
Written by Expressions of Muslim WomenExpressions of Muslim Women (EMW) is back this year with the show “All Stars” on November 16 in Ottawa (click here for event details and to purchase tickets online).
Expressions of Muslim Women (EMW) is an Ottawa-based group of Muslim women dedicated to promoting the artistry of Muslim women in the National Capital Region.
Since November 2008, EMW has organized a women-only show at the Centrepointe Studio Theatre where the talent of local Muslim women is showcased through their visual artwork and their performing arts such as poetry, drama, music and song.
With a new format, this year’s "talk-show style" show with guest host "Hawa Haaji" (Somali Canadian playwright Habiba Ali) will feature live performances of poetry, music and comedy.
This show is for women-only (10 years and up). Women from all faith communities are welcome to attend.
Each year, the show also raises funds for local charities. Charities that received donations from the proceeds of past EMW shows have included Immigrant Women's Services of Ottawa and Roger Neilson House, which meets the palliative care needs of children and their families.
