Join The Legal Centre for Palestine for Planning a Public Demonstration: Legal and Practical Considerations at 7:00 PM Eastern on Thursday, September 17th.

We know that collective action and activism in all its forms cannot be made completely “law-proof" and individuals who organize or participate in demonstrations face real legal and personal risks in the current climate. In support of informed advocacy, this session will cover the changing legal landscape and what protesters and organizers can do to reduce their exposure to criminal penalties. Additionally, we will discuss considerations like location, the role and impact of law enforcement, and responding when things don’t go to plan. An audience Q&A will follow the presentation.

Whether you are a seasoned organizer and or newer to the scene, we hope you will walk away feeling more confident about how to understand and assess risk in your demonstration activism and make informed choices.

Our first speaker will be lawyer Nora Fathalipour.

Nora Fathalipour is a dedicated legal advocate in Ontario whose practice focuses on criminal, regulatory, and disciplinary proceedings, where she passionately represents both defendants and complainants. Through her experience working at community legal clinics, alongside judges, and at a reputable Toronto law firm, she has developed valuable skills and insights, which she now brings to her own practice. Her work is grounded in a commitment to supporting individuals navigating difficult legal situations and addressing significant power imbalances.
