Many young people were discouraged from voting by family members because of the danger around many polling stations. But regardless, images show long lines winding their way around those areas.
Here in Canada, there are few security concerns or fear of attacks and yet many young people are not turning up at voting stations. According to Elections Canada, 38.8% of youth between ages 18-24 participated in the federal elections in 2011.
Students with the University of Ottawa's Muslim Students' Association (MSA) organized this year's annual Islam Awareness Week (IAW), from March 3rd to March 7th around the theme of the sustainability of Islam.
Shahad Khalladi, a second year student studying biomedical science, developed this year's logo in collaboration with other IAW volunteers. The logo demonstrates the various intersecting gears which have helped to sustain Islam over the centuries.
Muslim Link checked out one of the weekly iftars organized by the University of Ottawa's Muslim Students' Association (MSA) on Wednesday, July 24th. Hundreds of people, mainly University of Ottawa students, attended theiftar where food was mainly provided by students and their families.
