Police Arrested 14, Including a Rabbi; Three MPs Stood in Solidarity with Protestors

Somali Canadian Nagad Moalin represented the riding of Fort McMurray-Cold Lake, Alberta at Equal Voice’s second Daughters of the Vote (DoV) gathering in early April 2019, which brought together 338 young women between the ages of 18 and 23, representing each Canadian riding and take their seat in the House of Commons during a historic sitting of the House of Commons. On January 29th, 2017, six Muslims were murdered at the Islamic Cultural Centre of Quebec City, a mosque in the Sainte-Foy neighbourhood of Quebec City, Canada.

Six people were killed including Ibrahima Barry (aged 39), Mamadou Tanou Barry (aged 42), Khaled Belkacemi (aged 60), Aboubaker Thabti (aged 44), Abdelkrim Hassane (aged 41) and Azzedine Soufiane (aged 57)

The Federal Liberal Caucus invited Muslims in their ridings across Canada to a national Eid Al-Fitr celebration at Parliament Hill on June 19th.

Muslim Welfare Centre and Project Ramadan came to Ottawa on April 22nd to work in partnership with the Ottawa Food Bank to build over 100 food baskets with the help of local volunteers and city officials, including Mayor Jim Watson.
