Calgary, Alberta, 2024/01/29 - The Muslim Council of Calgary (“MCC”) is gravely concerned about the wellbeing of Mr. Mansour Shouman, a Calgarian, a former board member of the MCC and a Palestinian activist, currently in Gaza amidst escalating violence. Recent bombardments by the Israel Occupation Forces have intensified, and multiple eyewitnesses were present as Mr. Shouman was abducted by the Israeli Occupation Forces.
Mansour Shouman has gone missing. It is believed he was abducted by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). He regularly reported what was on the siege of Gaza thorugh his social media and was regularly interviewed by English language meeting about what life was like on the ground for Gazan civilians.

The Coalition of the Canadian Palestinian Organizations expresses profound concern regarding the continuing violence in Palestine and Israel. We firmly object to statements that unconditionally support the Israeli government, as they perpetuate a troubling trend of overlooking the underlying causes of this violence. We firmly assert that the loss of civilian lives is never acceptable. Nevertheless, the violence we are witnessing today underscores the daily hardships faced by Palestinians, whether due to Israel's severe blockade of Gaza, persistent attacks on Palestinian civilians by settlers, or the unlawful occupation of Palestinian territories.
A new award honouring the legacy of Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh has been established by Carleton University’s School of Journalism and Communication.

Ottawa – On Monday, June 7 at 11 am, Palestinian refugee Jihan Qunoo will visit the Prime Minister’s Office at 80 Wellington Street (East entrance) to request an urgent meeting with Justin Trudeau as part of her fight to bring her three traumatized girls and husband to Ottawa from war-ravaged Gaza.
