(Ottawa - March 20, 2017) The National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) is pleased to confirm settlement of its libel lawsuit against Jason MacDonald (former director of communications for the Right Honourable Stephen Harper) and Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada on terms acceptable to the parties.
On March 17th, the Public Safety Canada reached a settlement with Abdullah Almalki, Ahmad Abou-Elmaati and Muayyed Nureddin. An official apology was also issued in relation to the Canadian government's role in their detention and "mistreatment" abroad.

On Saturday, March 18th, Ottawa will host a unique music show at the Centrepointe Studio Theatre. Ginella Massa has made history once again. In January 2015, she became the first hijabi TV news reporter on mainstream Canadian Television. On November 18 2016, she was asked to sit in as news anchor on City TV, where she currently works as a reporter, thus becoming the first hijabi to anchor a newscast in Canada.
