Pearl Eliadis is a human rights lawyer, educator and author, with an interest in equality rights, civil liberties, and women’s rights who has worked with institutional and multilateral clients, in China, Ethiopia, Nepal, Rwanda, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tajikistan and Timor Leste, as well as in Canada.
She is an adjunct professor at McGill University's Faculty of Law and is cross-appointed to the Max Bell School of Public Policy where she Is an associate member and serves as member of the teaching faculty. She is a full member of the McGill Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism and has been appointed three times as President of the Quebec Bar Association’s Human Rights and Diversity Committee and specialized working group. In addition to human rights, her areas of interest and research include civil society, public policy, and organizational evaluation and assessment. Her 2014 monograph Speaking Out on Human Rights: Debating Canada’s Human Rights System (McGill-Queen’s University Press) won the Huguenot Society of Canada Award for freedom of expression and conscience.
The Canadian Museum for Human Rights has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. It has joined the ranks of several prominent institutions, from Rideau Hall to the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts, that have been rocked by allegations of discrimination and harassment.
