Community Iftars is excited to be collaborating with the amazing duo that make up Cafe Mansheh, Manal Khan and Shehroze Shaikh, to cater for our community.
Ramadan Supper Club x Cafe Mansheh
Manal Khan is a storyteller, writer, and photographer, who has been experimenting with food and fermentation since she moved from Karachi. She discovered her culinary calling in New York, inspired by the rich tapestry of flavors brought in by migrant communities and the many solidarities between them. Her food practices are ever-evolving, focusing on movement, experimenting with seasonal ingredients, and committing to ethical consumption. Food tells a story, and Manal aims to be the medium.
Shehroze Shaikh is a historian, archivist, and community educator. As a student of movement, migration, and the human experience, he is interested in food as a cultural artifact and community-building tool. His journey with food started as a home cook and server for a Syrian catering service in Vancouver. Hailing from the food metropolis of Karachi, and having scoured the food scenes in Vancouver, New York, and now Toronto, Shehroze looks to blend techniques and flavors from his travels into the hearty classics that he serves to friends, family, and community members.
