Badminton basics for kids (6 to 11) - NOV 24, 2024

Our coach is a highly-experienced badminton player who has won tournaments around the GTA, such as the Milton Sports Association Badminton Tournament, where she was also chosen to receive the Best Player Award. She holds the titles of District Level Champion and State Level Champion in India. Alhamdulillah, we are very lucky to have her with us at FaezSports. 

 1. Basic Skills 

• Grip Techniques: Forehand and backhand grips.  

• Footwork: Basic movement patterns to position for shots.

 2. Fundamental Shots

• Serving: High and low serves.  

• Clears: Hitting the shuttlecock deep into the opponent's court.  

• Drops: Soft shots that land close to the net.

• Smashes: Introduction to overhead hitting.

3. Rules and Scoring

• Basic rules of badminton, including scoring systems and court dimensions.

4. Game Play

• Practicing rallying to keep the shuttle in play.

• Simple mini-games to encourage applying skills in a fun setting.

5. Warm-Up and Cool Down

• Importance of warming up before play and cooling down afterward to prevent injuries.

6. Sportsmanship and Teamwork

• Encouraging respectful play and cooperation with peers.
