Bridging Gaps Foundation is an organization that promotes community tolerance initiatives in Canada through education, integration and outreach programs. As growing sentiments of Islamophobia and extremism harm the social stability, some Muslims feel misrepresented and victimized by unjust discrimination. The pressure may cause some Muslim or non-Muslim community members to react inappropriately, and perpetuate cycles of Islamophobia and extremism. Bridging Gaps seeks to bring communities together with education and integration to end the cycle of Islamophobia and extremism.
The Bridging Gaps Foundation treats the root causes of discrimination and extremism with a holistic three pronged approach:
1. Education Islamophobia and extremism both feed on misconceptions, misinterpretations and misquotations about Islam. Bridging Gaps focuses on education to open up a positive and constructive discourse on Islam, thus, bridging gaps between Muslims and Non-Muslims.
2. Integration Integration in positive social activities is important in making the Muslim community a valued part of Canada’s multicultural society.
3. Outreach Outreach on a grass-roots level with the wider community is essential for strengthening the fabric of Canada’s multicultural society. Bridging Gaps builds meaningful and lasting relationships with local municipal, cultural, and faith organizations.
We also support, collaborate with and provide consultation to other organizations and student clubs that work towards the same goal.
