Relieve Humanity International (RHI) is a registered Canadian charity established on the principles of sustainability and self-sufficiency. At RHI we believe in building long-term solutions to help communities break out of the cycle of debilitating poverty. Access to primary medical care as well as enriched education carves pathways from poverty to prosperity. At RHI we work with communities around the world to implement long-term primary healthcare as well as educational solutions towards a better future for all.
It’s been a decade since Relieve Humanity started, and here’s the story of how we began.
In the summer of 2012, Ahmad Rahman travelled to Karachi, Pakistan. During his time there, he experienced firsthand the perils of the healthcare system. Though he could navigate the system with relative ease due to his ability to afford treatment and medication, the experience still left him wondering about those not as privileged as himself. He came to the stark realization that those unable to afford treatment or medicine would be left with the heart-wrenching choice between self and family, illness and hunger, between pain and survival.
From this realization came the launch of Relieve Humanity on July 18, 2012. A registered not-for-profit organization in Ontario, Canada. Relieve Humanity then opened Shifa Welfare Free Medical Centre in Orangi, an impoverished suburb in Karachi, Pakistan and one of the largest poor regions in the world. Then in December 2017, we launched Ehsaan Trust hospital in Faisalabad, Pakistan.
After this fruitful decade in which we’ve served over 300,000 people, we’ve decided to expand our services. Relieve Humanity is going international. As of 2022, we are now Relieve Humanity International. We have added Education to our portfolio and adding programs in Somalia and Somaliland in the hope of helping more and more people.
