Imam Shakir Ibn Yunus Pandor was born in Toronto, Canada.Currently he is the Imam at the Islamic Center of Oshawa. He is a licensed marriage officer in Ontario. He travelled to the UK in 1990 where he first completed the memorization of the Qur’an at Jame’ah Ta’limul Islam and then the rigorous 8 year Alim program covering the Arabic language, Arabic morphology, Islamic jurisprudence, Tafseer (exegis) of the Holy Qur’an, Hadith (Prophetic Sciences), philosophy, and Aqeedah (Islamic Creed) under the guidance of some of the pioneer scholars in England at Darul Uloom Al-Arabiyah Al-Islamiyah, the renowned seminary of the great revivalist and scholar of Hadith, Shaykh-ul-Hadith Zakariyya Kandhlawi (Rahmatullahi Alayh). After graduating in 1999 and receiving a Bachelors degree in Islamic Theology, he returned to Toronto, where he spent 8 years as an Imam and Islamic studies teacher at various Masaajid and Islamic schools. He aided in initiating the Canadian Council of Muslim Theologians (CCMT) an organization that caters to the various needs of Muslims in Canada. Imam Shakir served on the CCMT Executive Board of Directors for 3 years. In 2008 he moved to Elizabethtown, KY where he served as the Imam of The Islamic Center of Elizabethtown until 2011.
