Zidni School is a traditional faith school located in the heart of Ottawa. Zidni seeks to revive Sunnah education, in which the young student’s curiosity and imagination are what guide the learning, and the teacher acts as facilitator, guide, example and mentor. The Prophet peace be upon him had many young Companions who learned by interacting with the Prophet peace be upon him and receiving his mentorship. In the process, they gained not only great knowledge, but great character, and became giants of scholarship and faith. Ibn Seena the great scientist, scholar and philosopher said “the number one value of education is to be shy to do or say the wrong thing.” The result of becoming a carrier of knowledge should be humility, shyness, and forbearance. Students of Zidni Ilma will in sha Allah learn that with the learning of Quran, Hadith, Seerah and Islamic History comes responsibility. Knowledge – which is all related to God – must be clothed in good character. Imam Zakariya al-Anbari once said: ‘Knowledge without good manners is like fire without wood, and good manners without knowledge is like a spirit without a body.’ The mother of Imam Malik (رحمة الله عليه) used to place a turban on his head and send him to his teacher Rabi’ah ibn Abdurrahman to learn first from his manners and then his knowledge. Indeed the deen of Islam is itself good manners and character, such that anyone that surpasses you in manners, is better than you in deen (Ibn al-Qayyim). Abu Huraira (رضى الله عنه) narrated, that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “I have been sent as a Messenger for no purpose other than than to perfect character” He also said that: “The nearest of you to me on the Day of Judgement will be the one who is best in character.” (Bukhari) Zidni Ilma school seeks to work in collaboration with Parents to provide boys and girls with a positive experience of learning about their faith that enriches their connection to Allah and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم and enables them to grow up strong Muslims. The school runs on Sundays from 2pm to 5pm
