Youth Net/Réseau Ado (YN/RA) Ottawa is a bilingual regional mental health promotion and intervention program run by youth, for youth based out of the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Our objective is to reach out and help youth develop and maintain good Mental Health as well as healthy coping strategies for dealing with stress, while decreasing stigma around Mental Illness and its treatment. We do this through education and intervention. We educate service providers, families, the community, policy makers and youth, on youth mental health issues We have tools to help identify youth in need of an intervention, preferably early, but also those already in crisis We promote mental health to decrease the stigma associated with mental health/illness in the public and with youth in particular Youth Net/RA also offers volunteer opportunities for responsible, mature, creative people between the ages of 20 and 30 to co-facilitate focus groups, programs and presentations with youth (ages 13-20) on various topics related to mental health. As a facilitator, you will be expected to conduct individual follow-ups with youth identified as needing additional support. You must also be proficient with documentation and completion of confidential forms and attend monthly facilitator meetings and training sessions.
