The Sudan Doctors' Union (SDU) Canada was established on the 24th of February 2019, with the goal of identifying and connecting members together in an effort to enrich their healthcare career journey and establish meaningful connections between the two countries, Canada and Sudan.
SDU Canada focuses on five main areas: Academia, Professional Development, Social Engagement and Outreach, Health and Wellness, and Financial education.
It is a not-for-profit organization led by a steering committee that regulates the by-laws and membership requirements. The Canada branch includes physicians serving in different disciplines and in multiple Provinces and Territories.
Nationally, members have been involved in multiple leadership roles and projects. Internationally they have collaborated with different healthcare stakeholders and projects with the primary intention of building bridges and partnerships between the two countries we call home.
1. Adopts all issues of concern to Sudanese doctors in Canada.
2. Works on the unity of doctors and promotes cooperation and respect.
3. Stands with its members in emergency situations.
4. Encourages and supports doctors to develop their academic and professional capabilities.
5. Stands in solidarity with the doctors in Canada, internationally and its affiliates with the Head Union in Sudan, and supports its activities/programes.
6. Plays an active role in its support of the Sudanese community in Canada and Sudan.
7. Works with relevant civil institutions, bodies and organizations in Sudan, Canada and other countries to upgrade health services and develop cadres working in the health field by providing advisory and technical support.
