Montreal City Mission (MCM)

Montreal City Mission (MCM) is a downtown community organization that’s been finding long-term solutions to problems of poverty and social exclusion since 1910. Located in the beautiful St. James Church on St. Catherine Street, MCM helps children from low-income families, children with special needs, refugees, and immigrants in Montreal. MCM helps break their isolation and ease their integration through three crucial programs:
- A legal information clinic that helps disadvantaged groups defend and understand their rights (refugees, elderly tenants, homeless or poorly housed people).
- An affordable summer camp that provides children with special needs and children of single-parent, immigrant, refugee, Aboriginal, and low-income families, with a safe, structured, and fun place to spend their summer.
- A mobile legal clinic that defends vulnerable senior citizens’ rights.
- The acronym Ma'an stands for the MCM Arab Action Network. Ma'an also means togetherness in Arabic. This Dual meaning sums up the aim of the MCM Ma'an's initiative which is to build bridges between members of diverse communities on the island of Montreal.
