Berries is a Mediterranean supermarket that specializes in halal and Middle-Eastern groceries in London, Ontario.
Berries Market provides its customers with bountiful fresh, flavourful, and healthy foods that are locally and globally sourced year-round.
The idea of Berries Market is akin to berries themselves. Berry bushes produce very generous amounts of fruit that always appear to give more, exceeding expectations. Berries further come in vibrant colours, shapes, and sizes, and are known to be flavourful and healthy. They are grown and cultivated across all five continents around the world, making them freshly available in any season.
The history of Berries dates back to 1997, when one of our founders, Husam Mohammed, started working in the food distribution industry abroad. In 2007, he opened his first supermarket and over the course of the following three years, had expanded to four locations. The idea at the time focused on creating big-box type shopping experiences with unparalleled service and unbeatable prices.
In 2010, Husam and his family immigrated to Canada to start a new life. He spent a few years in Montreal in the food distribution business and became familiar with the food industry in the city quite well.
The idea of offering a unique shopping experience to London’s growing demographics came about in 2017 during Husam’s visit to London. In 2018, Mahmoud AlSakka and Abdulwahab Nasser also joined as co-founders, each bringing different experiences in business management.
Berries Market reflects our Canadian identity. Did you know that Canada is the second-largest producer of blueberries in the world? We are proud of being 100% Canadian owned and operated.
Berries Market is more than just about berries. It is a market that comes alive with the aroma, sounds, and colours of an on-site bakery, a dine-in restaurant and grill, a halal butcher shop, fresh fruits and vegetables, and more.
Berries is bountiful. Berries is more!
