As Eritreans, we share a common history, culture, religion family values and unique circumstances.
Only Eritreans know what they have truly been through. Many families have experienced hardship through war, living in exile, being refugees and living in isolation as new immigrants. The youth have been particularly impacted.
The Canadian Eritrean Youth Development (CEYD) is an organization for the youth by the youth with a twofold purpose:
Supporting youth locally through a variety of initiatives.
Providing support to those left behind in refugee camps.
More specifically CEYD aims at:
Creating a network that will enable the youth to support one another from a place of understanding and shared experiences.
Providing support including through networking, mentoring, guidance on navigating the education system, career development, and counselling.
Engaging the youth to work on relief and development initiatives targeted towards Eritrean refugees including food and emergency relief, orphan sponsorships and educational programs among others.
CEYD vision is to provide our Eritrean youth a strong sense of identity and belonging, empower them to achieve their personal and professional goals all while playing a leadership role in supporting those left behind in refugee camps.
